Earlham

Nursery School

Curriculum Opportunities in our garden

During the year the children at Earlham Nursery School have the opportunity to take part in many additional experiences within the garden, which enhanced the main curriculum offer. These include International Mud Day, Water Days, Forest School Fire Days, Beach Day and snow days.

Beach Days

In July we hosted a beach day at Nursery. The donkeys from Great Yarmouth visit us and every child gets a ride round the garden. We open the Earlham Nursery ice-cream parlour, splash and swim in the paddling pools and hold a sand castle competition! We have a fantastic day! Look below at some of the things we got up to!

International Mud Day

Each June we celebrated International Mud Day. We celebrated  by participating in lots of exciting activities in the garden, including creating mud drawings, making clay faces on the trees, exploring the properties of mud, making mud pies and best of all sliding down the mud slide! Take a look below to see what we got up to!

Water Slide Days

We make the most of hot weather and have a water day. We have paddling pools, water play and most importantly the water slide! The children are very brave sliding down the slide, they love splashing in the big puddle!!

Take a look below to see how much fun we all had!

Forest School Fire Days

Each half term the children participate in a Forest School Fire Day.  They learn about fire safety and sing their forest school songs. Before each fire day all the children prepare food to cook on the fire, this has included damper bread with vanilla, raisins, chocolate drops and herbs picked in our vegetable garden, pancakes, hot cross buns and delicious pumpkin soup made with pumpkins we picked at Alygs Farm!

Snow Days

We make the most of all the weather offers us and back in December 2022 the children made the most of the snow fall by having a snow day! All of the children wrapped up warm in their hats, gloves and coats, and enjoyed making snow angles, snowmen and sledging down the big hill!  It was lots of fun.
