SEND

We are committed to providing an inclusive and responsive curriculum for all children in our school. Staff adapt their daily planning to meet the needs of their class, and plan from the child's starting point to support all children to have success.

We follow the SEND Code of Practice and staff closely monitor children's progress across all areas of learning and swiftly identify any concerns, discussing their worries with parents and the school Special Needs Coordinator.

Across school we use the WellComm speech and language assessment and intervention to support children with identified language development delay.

To support children's personal and social development we use the Boxall Profile assessment and interventions.

All our interventions are led by staff familiar to the children and use play based age appropriate activities.

If required staff will support parents to submit an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) application.

In addition to the whole school approach to supporting children we also have a designated class for children who have an EHCP in place, Fox Class. Admission for this class is through Norfolk County Council SEND Admission Panel. All children across school benefit from the expertise within the staff team in Fox Class. Staff within Fox Class are trained in:

  • Intensive Interaction

  • Attention Autism

  • Visual Communication systems

  • PECs

  • Sensory provision

  • Sign a long

If you are worried about your child's development or progress please speak to your child's Key Person.

The schools SENCO is Carole Jacques and the deputy SENCO is Kez Tidy . If you would like to speak to Carole or Kez please call the school office on 01603 454271.

Across school we use the Waves of Intervention model to ensure each child receives the right level of support at the right time.

Sometime child may require a short term intervention to support their development in a particular area, for example with their speech and language development. For other children they may need long term support and a very adapted curriculum and environment.

Our SEND Report gives more detail of the approaches we use in school and the adaptions we make to ensure every child's needs are met.
